This webpage was created by a Global Feminisms class at the College of New Jersey. As a group, we have tackled issues involving women: their reproductive health (abortion, FGM, contraception), prostitution, trafficking, porn, and sexuality. Patriarchal societies dominate the world in all aspects of life and this in turn translates into male dominance over female sexuality, and reproductive health. Whether or not the patriarchal dominance is visible, its affects can clearly be seen in everyday life for both women and men. Through documents such as CEDAW, and the Human Rights Document the hope of a utopian society is created, but still far from being attained throughout the world. The question becomes, what is it about equality that threatens the 'normalacy' of our societies? Is it male's fear of females gaining power, positions, privilages, and jobs?
